Life History
William George STIMPSON was born at Barton Abingdon Berks in 1888 being the first son of Thomas STIMPSON and Annie. In 1891, when William was aged 3, he was living with his parents at Culham, and by 1901 he was at Standlake with his parents and working as a Farm Servant. William married Elizabeth Emma BOULTON on 12-Sep-1915 at St Helens church Abingdon. He held the rank of Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery 2nd Div. Ammunition Col. Abingdon. William fought in WWI and was killed on 1-Feb-1917 in Somme France. A gravestone exists at Contay CWGC Cemetery The Somme France. William's widow Elizabeth later re-married Charles WOODBRIDGE in 1921.
